From Dungiven to Niagara – A Legacy of Hospitality
Our journey began with John Magilligan, a dedicated builder from Dungiven, Ireland, affectionately known as “Honest John.” Facing the challenges of the Great Famine, John’s family embarked on a voyage to North America, laying the foundation for a legacy of resilience and warmth.
His son, Dr. Francis Magilligan, continued this legacy in Brooklyn, New York, marrying Anna and raising a family that cherished their Irish roots. Generations later, this spirit lives on in Niagara Falls through Doc Magilligan’s Irish Pub.

Authenticity Shipped Across the Atlantic
In 2013, a piece of Ireland arrived in Niagara Falls. Our pub was meticulously constructed in Ireland, complete with handcrafted bars and authentic memorabilia from historic Irish pubs. These elements were shipped to 6400 Lundy’s Lane, creating an environment that exudes genuine Irish charm.Every corner of Doc Magilligan’s tells a story, from the vintage décor to the warm wooden interiors, offering guests an immersive Irish experience.
Celebrating a Life of Joy and Community
Doc Magilligan was more than a name; he embodied the essence of Irish hospitality. Known for his jovial nature and love for gatherings, Doc believed in the power of community and good cheer. Our pub stands as a tribute to his spirit, inviting everyone to share in moments of laughter, music, and camaraderie.
