From Ireland to Niagara.
If you’ve ever visited a pub in Ireland, you’ll know about the unique and comfortable atmosphere that can date back decades or even centuries.
That was exactly the type of feeling that the Cade family hoped to create in 2014 when they opened Doc Magilligan’s Restaurant & Irish Pub in the heart of Niagara Falls on Lundy’s Lane.
With family roots dating back many years in Ireland, the Cade family looked to honour their heritage and create a welcoming environment for tourists and locals alike to enjoy classic comfort food, drinks and live music. Nestled into the first floor of the family-owned Best Western Plus Cairn Croft Hotel, Doc’s was designed and fabricated in Ireland and shipped to its final destination in late 2013.
Along with hundreds of pieces of authentic Irish pub memorabilia from recently closed pubs in Ireland, Doc Magilligan’s bar and furniture offer guests a unique look into Irish pub history that one would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in Canada.
Since opening its doors in January of 2014, Doc’s has received many accolades from locals, travellers and institutions alike. After just 3 years of operation, the pub was nominated and named one of the Top 10 Irish Pubs in North America by Irish Pubs Global. At the same awards ceremony held in Dublin in the Fall of 2017, 2018 & 2019. The pub’s own Chef was awarded Best Irish Pub Chef in North America in 2017 & 2019.
Inspired by the tradition of classic pub comfort food, we've developed a menu that combines old and new – with modern takes on pub favourites like corned beef & sauerkraut filled ‘Reuben Bites’, and Irish potato pancake wrapped Boxty.
At the same time, the classics are honoured, with golden brown Fish & Chips, Shepherd’s Pie and award-winning Burgers to name a few. In a few short years, Doc’s has become well-known in the Niagara Region for it’s food – reaching the top 25 restaurants on TripAdvisor.
For those visiting the region, Doc’s offers a variety of comfort food and pub food options alongside award-winning ambience that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a true Irish pub.
